Does it open in the afternoon?
The shopping houyrs of the market is from Monday to Saturday from 7:30 to 15:00 hours. Out of this timetable, the Central Market is open 24 h a day through its web, where you can order on line and by mail.
Are school trips organized?
The school visits are organized by EMT in its "EMT a l ´Escola" campaign aimed at the educational centers of the municipality of Valencia, in collaboration with Mercavalencia. The purpose of this activity is to get to know the city, its uses and traditions.
An EMT bus picks up schoolchildren at the school to a guided tour aboard the bus that brings them closer to the nearest municipal market, where they perform a gastronomic workshop, and then they go to the Central Market.

What can be done with the Mercapuntos?
The Mercapuntos that sellers give when shopping is a loyalty tool. They can be redeemed both for free hours of parking, as for books and merchandisn. All the merchandising is exhibited in a showcase at the customer service.

Surface: 15.200 m2 (8.200 m2 of commercial area and basement of 7.000 m2 dedicated to services for costumers).
Costumers: 20% are neighbours (D. P 46001,46002 and 46003). 60% from the rest of the districts of the city of Valencia. 18% from other municipalities in the province of Valencia and a 2 % from other provinces or foreigners.
Commercial offer: 274 stalls: 95 % feed (261) and 5 % non-feed (13).
Supply: 185 of fresh products-64 stalls of other type of supplies, 12 of prepared food and hospitality.
Fresh products: 73 butchers and deli stalls.
61 fruit and vegetable stalls.
42 fish and seafood stalls.
9 bakery stalls.
Daily activity: unload of 48.000 kg of fruit a day and 15.000 kg of feeding supplied by other suppliers through 500 vehicles per day.
The anniversaries of the Central Market
During the 17 years, 4 months and 20 days that lasted its construction, different events were held. The anniversary of each date is a cause for celebration.
24/10/1910- Inauguration of demolitions by Alfonso XIII, with the presence of the President of the government , José Canalejas.
18/05/1914-After several years of delays and lawsuits, the project of Francisco Guardia Vidal and Alejandro Soler March for the construction of the Central Market is approved.
30/12/1915-Laying of the first stone.
23/01/1928- Symbolic act of inauguration of the Central Market. The construction of the Central Market was not easy. Controversy, budgetary problems, social conflicts and economic crises... Nevertheless. it was able to inaugurate symbolically with a great charity meal, inviting to eat 1.400 people in need who were served a dish of paella, another of fish, dessert, water and wine. According to the chronicles, a ton of fruit was distributed.
15/03/1928- Opening to the public of the Central Market for the sale of products.
